Sleeping Disorders and Symptoms: Children vs. Adults

Sleep deprivation and sleeping disorders can affect children in different ways than adults. Sleepy children tend to "speed up" rather than slow down. You might notice signs of moodiness and irritability, increased temper tantrums, over-activity and hyperactive behavior, daytime naps, grogginess when they wake up in the morning, reluctance to get out of bed in the morning. Consult your pediatrician if you think your child suffers from sleep deprivation. Click on the above link to learn more from the Merck Manual Home Edition.
